How to Playback iPod Videos on your TV |
|
The first thing you need to get is a connector cable, whose price is in the range of $25 to $150. One way to playback iPod video on your TV is to plug a cable into your iPod and connect to your TV. The controls remain with the iPod and the options/menus will be displayed on the iPod screen. You will hold your iPod and control the function on your TV with the help of the display on the iPod. To make this connection, you will need an audio video cable for the ipod. This cable has a 1/8 inch standard diameter and costs somewhere around $20. Connect the cable to the iPod headphone port and then plug the three connectors to your TV set.
The Universal Dock’s line-out port can be used if you are using the universal dock. This way you can keep the audio video cable plugged in and remove your iPod from the dock station.
The other option to playback ipod video on your TV is to make a connection using a DIY cable. The Belkin cable or a standard A/V cable could be better and more cost effective options, instead of the iPod AV cable. Insert the connector to the headphone port of the iPod and then plug it in the corresponding RCA jacks in your TV set.
Settings on the iPod
To set your iPod to output the signal to the TV, follow these steps:
1. Go to the main menu of your iPod, and then select the Videos option.
2. Access the Video Settings and select the Settings option.
3. Turn the TV Out setting to either On or Ask depending on your preference. If you turn it to On, the iPod will output the video without prompting you and if you turn it to Ask, the iPod will ask before taking the action. However with the Ask option, you will not have to change the settings for playing the videos on the iPod. On the other hand, you will have to deny permission to the TV every time you play a video.
4. NTSC is the signal mostly used in North America and Japan and PAL is used in European countries. Check the output signal for the correct type.
5. Select the Wide-screen options for the way you intend to view the video.
6. To go back to the Videos screen press the Menu button.
Start Playing the Video
To begin playback video on your iPod, you will have to go through the following steps:
1. Scroll to Videos on the main menu and select it. This is in case the Videos screen is not already displayed on the iPod.
2. Select the option that you want to play: movies, TV shows, songs etc.
3. Access the video item you intend to play and select it.
The Fast Forward and Rewind buttons are available for the corresponding functions. If you want to skip only a little part of the video, these buttons are ideal, but for longer parts, you should use the scrub bar. Scroll for the desired function and press Select to make the scrub bar disappear. You can make a video playlist on iTunes to watch on your iPod in the sequence of your choice. Select the corresponding option on your iPod.
Enjoy the experience!
