How To Find Contacts Very Quickly

Do you remember that you can turn on your Pocket PC and soon launch the Contacts applications at the same time, by just pressing on the Contacts tab on the front side?

Now that you have your Contacts open in front of your eyes, tap on Menu >Options, and put a checkmark next to “Show alphabetical index” (in pre-WM5 Pocket PCs: tap Tools >Options >Show ABC tabs).

Now it is possible to find any contact very quickly and easily by tapping on the appropriate tab. However, when you press a tab two times, it will sort out the second letter of the tab on the top portion of the screen. When you tap it three times, you can reach the last letter. Note that Smart Phones do not have these alphabetical tabs.

One more short cut method to find a contact is to use the jog wheel slowly to sift through the entire list.

Here’s how you can enable ultra fast and “turbo-quick” loading of list:

  • Hold down on the jog wheel, until the cursor reaches the end of the list and continue to keep holding a while longer.
  • A block containing a particular letter will appear in the middle of the window.
  • You can then cycle through the entire set of alphabets, thus providing you the ability to zoom to the right entry in the list.
  • Contacts are visible either as last name or as a company. You can even change the way a particular contact is viewable by altering the File As tab for that contact in Outlook over your desktop PC.
  • As you sync the device next time, you can enable the changes in the device.
